If you don't have 25, keep working on this exercise until you do. Keep in mind that these things are for you. When you have 25 for you, move on to the next exercise.

EXERCISE 2.1

Now I want you to list what you would do for others once you are financially free and don't have to spend 40+ hours a week exchanging your life for a paycheck. How would you serve your family, your community, your friends, and the world?

Again, keep working on this until you have 25.

EXERCISE 2.2

Now, pick five from each list that are the most powerful and desirable, the things that excite you the most and that you are the most passionate about. Next, set a date for financial freedom. Make it doable, but don't set it out 20 years; three to five years is a reasonable timeline.

What actions will you take on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to create your financial freedom and to make the five things from your lists a reality?

Understand you may not have ALL the puzzle pieces YET, but you HAVE to start somewhere; if you don't, things will never change. Your target statement is a living entity that grows as you do. So the spots that seem blank and empty in your mind will get clear as you move forward.

You may notice that I have chosen to use the term 'Target’ instead of goals in this book. Target implies something specific that you first focus on; aim at; then shoot for. If missed you simply aim and shoot again using the knowledge you learned from the shot missed. The term “goals” is thrown around a lot and seems to have lost its meaning. In sports there is always somebody trying to stop you from making a goal, and if you miss, you may not get another chance. Not with target's! You can always do more target practice. There is also no chance of failure so as long as you continue to shoot for your specific target you will inevitably hit it!

NOW, you are going to create your Financial Freedom Target Statement. Write it as if you already did all the work and have achieved it, so it is based in the future but written in the present tense. Here's an example:

Today is (insert your desired date) and I am financially free. This has allowed me to fire my boss and spend more time home with my family. I will take that second honeymoon with my wife by going to Hawaii for two weeks. This extra time also will allow me to write my novel. And so on, and so on…

The more detailed the statement, the better.

My financially free life looks like this:

Today is…

Put this statement next to your “I'm mad as hell” statement and read it twice a day, too. You need to keep one eye on the prize and the other on the pain at all times. As you hit one target, take another from one of the lists of 25 and add it to the statement.
